"Aviadvigatel” is the IT-Leader of Russian ENGINE-BUILDING INDUSTRY
Aviadvigatel OJSC was recognized as the Laureate of National Award "IT-Leader" in "Mechanical engineering" nomination. Laureate diploma "For outstanding contribution to information technologies development in Russia" and a commemorative token "IT-Leader 2010" were awarded to Sergey Bormalev, IT-director of Aviadvigatel OJSC.
Among the "IT-Leader 2010" laureates there are Federal Agency for Water Resources, RUSNANO, RF Federal Treasury, VTB24, Rosatom, VGTRK (All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company) and others.
In nowadays economics the development of competitive products is impossible without information technologies. These technologies gain in a great importance in developing and creating of innovative products.
Aero engine building is an exclusively science-driven high-tech sector which is creating backgrounds for the other industry sectors' development in view of high extension and branching of processing chains which are generated during the building of up-to-date technology. The design complexity, the highest safety, saving and environmental requirements to the design make information technologies essential in the work of designers, engineers, workers, and managers.
"Aviadvigatel" Design Bureau has been regularly implementing and actively using the most contemporary IT-technologies for many years.
The in-house school of computational fluid dynamics has been set up in "Aviadvigatel" Design Bureau. The methodologies of 3D stationary and non-stationary computational analysis of complex processes in aeroengine are actively being developed. The following are:
- Digital simulation of processes in combustor and estimation of emissions;
- Analysis of vibration stresses in turbine blades;
- Evaluation of thermal state of cooled turbine blades taking into account heat transfer processes at outer and inner gasflows;
- Evaluation of engine noise level.
These are unique methods in Russian engineering industry. DBMS products as well as an in-house software engineering are being used for their development. This makes it possible for Aviadvigatel to build products competitive to well-known global brands.
A High Performance Computing Cluster was developed in Aviadvigatel OJSC in 2007 to solve resource-intensive problems of fluid dynamics. Over the last years its productivity has been growing up gradually in 25 times. Nowadays the new cluster is being developed.
The interactive electronic service manuals are issued in accordance with ASD S1000D international standards for all aeroengines developed by Perm Design Bureau.
The whole issuing cycle of parts and assemblies manufacturing processes is automated within complex in-house preproduction planning system integrated with CIM system. The number of electronic manufacturing processes developed and transferred to production is approximately 100 %. The tool sets 3D engineering and multiaxial CNC processing have been provided on the basis of CAD/CAM systems. The methods of preproduction planning management on the basis of annotated 3D-models of parts without drawings issuing are being tried out. The non-stationary 3D-modelling of turbine blades cast molding and crystallizing has been introduced in everyday practice.
The competent approach to infrastructure arrangement distinguishes Aviadvigatel Design Bureau. The computer networks of Aviadvigatel and Perm Engine Company are represented as a common information area. Symmetrical using of the most contemporary engineering solutions when building data processing centers of these enterprises became the basis of fault- and failure-tolerant solutions development, and significantly simplified infrastructure management.
Enterprises are intentionally implementing PLM technologies (Product Lifecycle Management) providing a product information support through the life cycle.
Since 2006 a product data management system (PDM system) Teamcenter (by Siemens), has been introduced into commercial operation in "Aviadvigatel". A unified design environment with entirely actual information about the project has been created. Product structures, including actual structures are kept here, and all projects revisions by Unified System for Design Documentation is made here, as well. End-to-end processes of design documentation electronic endorsement in Aviadvigatel's and Perm Engine Company's departments have been implemented. 3D-engineering CAD/CAM system NX (Unigraphics) has been used since 1994. An electronic prototype is being developed for each engineered product. The structures in NX and Teamcenter are synchronized particularly by revisions. Teamcenter system is also integrated with CIM systems of both enterprises. Such full-function implementation of PDM system is unique for Russian engine-building industry.
The one of the priority projects of United Engine Building Corporation Management Company is the PD-14 new generation engine development. All main Russian engine-building companies take part in the project on terms of deep cooperation. Aviadvigatel OJSC was chosen as a leading developer in this project and it steers other participants within IT-area.
The main principles of the joint project IT-support are the following:
- Design data is centrally kept in the unified engineering data management system (Teamcenter PDM system);
- Collective interaction between Project participants is provided on the basis of Teamcenter Multisite Collaboration;
- Project management is realized with MS Project;
- Videoconferencing is widely used;
- Data exchange is accomplished via secure communication channels;
- Unified software tools and data formats are used.
The wide usage of the most contemporary information technologies and design tools makes work in Aviadvigatel OJSC attractive for university graduates, and enables to consolidate creative-minded specialists within the company. The company management believes that it is a keystone of Perm Design Bureau and of the whole engine-building industry as well.
